Position Summary The Greenhouse Maintenance supports the daily operations of the greenhouse by maintaining facilities, equipment, irrigation systems, and outdoor grounds. This role focuses on repairs, cleanliness, lawn and grounds upkeep, and ensuring a safe, functional environment for staff and customers. The ideal candidate is hands?on, reliable, and experienced with irrigation systems and general maintenance tasks. Key Responsibilities Facility & Equipment Maintenance Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of greenhouse structures, benches, walkways, and work areas Assist with basic repairs (hoses, irrigation lines, carts, tools, etc.) Monitor and report issues with heating, cooling, ventilation, and environmental control systems Support seasonal setup and takedown (shade cloth, poly, fans, heaters, etc.) Maintain safe, organized storage areas for tools and equipment Irrigation Systems Install, repair, and maintain irrigation lines, hoses, emitters, and valves Troubleshoot leaks, clogs, pressure issues, and malfunctioning components Adjust irrigation schedules and ensure consistent water distribution Perform seasonal irrigation tasks such as winterizing and system start?up Maintain accurate records of irrigation repairs and adjustments Lawn & Grounds Care Mow, trim, edge, and maintain lawn areas around the greenhouse and retail spaces Weed, mulch, and maintain landscaped beds Perform seasonal yard cleanup (spring/fall) Remove snow, salt walkways, and maintain safe outdoor access during winter Keep outdoor areas tidy, safe, and visually appealing for customers Operational Support Move, organize, and stage materials such as soil, plants, and supplies tractor experience an asset. Load and unload deliveries Assist with general labour tasks as needed during peak seasons Follow all workplace safety procedures. Work Conditions Standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive tasks for extended periods Exposure to water, soil, fertilizers, and greenhouse chemicals (with training) Weekend or early?morning shifts may be required during peak seasons Job Types: Part-time, Permanent, Seasonal Contract length: 6 months Pay: $21.00-$24.00 per hour Expected hours: 20 – 35 per week Benefits: Flexible schedule Store discount Experience: Irrigation: 1 year (required) Licence/Certification: Driving Licence (required) Work Location: In person |
