- Experience in personnel management, budgeting, operations management, working with multiple stakeholder groups/public, and experience in retail and/or other customer service.
- Experience running, vending, or volunteering at farmers’ markets.

REQUIREMENTS
- Valid driver’s license with a clean drivers abstract, the CVFAC has a vehicle to preform market duties such as putting out signs, transporting market gear and equipment
- Availability to work every Saturday during outdoor/indoor season (April to October and November, December and once in February and March)
- Ability to work from a home office environment and in a shared office environment

The Creston Valley Food Action Coalition Society is currently seeking an active, reliable and responsible individual who is interested in being the next Creston Valley Farmers’ Market Manager.

The Market Manager, is responsible for developing, organizing and maintaining the Creston Valley Farmer’s Market, fostering a community institution that is trusted, vibrant and entrepreneurial in spirit for both market vendors and their patrons.

Working with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director and other CVFAC staff the market manager has day-to-day responsibility for the successful operation of the farmers’ markets. This position requires the manger to be in office one to two days a week, be at all outdoor/indoor market days which are every Saturday from the middle of April to the middle of December, plus one market in February and one in March. Workload varies with market season. Other hours are flexible, as required to accomplish the required tasks in a timely manner:


Duties DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Market Operations Management – Coordinates and oversees day-to-day operations of the market throughout the year. This includes, but is not limited to, invoicing and payment follow-up, collection of fees on market day, completion of Market Day Transaction Report, preparation of bank deposits, working with the Executive Director and bookkeeper on payables and other receivables, booking weekly music performers and community organizations.
2. Vendor Management
Processing market applications in Marketwurks, assignment of stall locations, overseeing/ensuring the logistics of setup/break down; the management of market volunteers; interfacing with the public and the vendors, resolution of conflicts or problems that may arise, and administering the Farmer’s Market Nutrition Coupon Program.
3. Vendor Relations – Develops and manages relationships with vendors, ensuring timely communications (e-mail, telephone, newsletters and in person) and resolution of issues or problems Monitors vendor operations and ensures compliance to Market Rules and Interior Health Guidelines where applicable. Works to recruit vendors as needed, screens applications and monitors quality of products and presentation. Provides orientation and tips to new vendors and offers ongoing support/communication to help ensure vendors’ success.
4. Market Customer Relations – Interacts with the public at the Markets and monitors and ensures the Market’s attractiveness and appeal. Develops recommendations to enhance/improve the Market and promotes the CVFM in a positive, professional manner. Models and promotes collaborative and respectful communications and community relationships.
6. Planning – Works with and provides input to the Board of Directors and executive director in the development of business plans and manager’s work priorities. Performs regular market, vendors and customer’s assessments. Prepares reports and keeps the Board informed regarding the status of the Market(s) and progress toward established goals.
7. Financial Planning & Management – Works with the executive director and bookkeeper to manage and maintain records of the organization’s revenues and expenses, providing monthly reports to the board. Processes fee payments, refunds, and banking activities. Works with and provides input to the executive director on annual budget development. Manages resources within the constraints of the budget and long-range business plans and ensures compliance with financial controls. Works with the executive director to explores and pursues funding opportunities such as grants and sponsorships.
8. Market Promotions – Oversees all advertising and promotion of the market through traditional and social media, including paid ads, press releases, posters, postcards, website and social media upkeep, signage, banners, etc.
9. Board Meetings – Must attend the meeting requested by the board and regular monthly meetings as scheduled.
10. Other Duties - Performs other duties as assigned from time to time by the Executive Director.

Hours of work:
Approximately 25 hours per week on average with less hours required in January to March, depending on project levels
Every Saturday is required, coverage is available from other staff members but must be approved and scheduled accordingly

Reporting relationship:
Reports to: The Executive Director which informs the President of the Creston Valley
Food Action Coalition Society
Manager supervises the following organization’s positions: market volunteers and
market assistant during outdoor season.
Liaise with Community stakeholders (eg. Town of Creston, Interior Health Authority,
Downtown Business Association, Chambers of Commerce, other Farmers Markets,
BCAFM, etc.)

Start date: April 6, 2026 or as soon as possible
Salary: $26,000 – $30,000/year on semi-monthly instalments, less applicable statutory deductions
Probation: 90 days from actual start date
