The Opportunity We are seeking an organized, energetic, and digitally savvy Assistant Farmers’ Market Manager to support the successful operation and promotion of the Market during the busy summer season. This role combines hands-on event support with active social media engagement. The ideal candidate understands how to build community both in person and online and can help grow the Market’s visibility and audience engagement. This position is ideal for someone who: - Is passionate about local food and community events - Has a strong understanding of social media platforms and trends - Enjoys creating engaging content (photos, reels, stories, posts) - Is detail-oriented and reliable - Is interested in growing into a larger leadership role over time The Assistant Market Manager works closely with the Market Manager and CVFAC team to ensure smooth weekly operations and strong community presence both on-site and online. Qualifications & Skills Required: - Strong communication and interpersonal skills - Demonstrated understanding of social media strategy and engagement - Ability to create compelling visual and written content - Highly organized and dependable - Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions - Ability to lift and move market equipment (tables, signage, tents) - Comfortable working independently and taking initiative Technical Skills: - Proficiency with Instagram and Facebook (posting, stories, reels, analytics) - Experience with Canva or similar design tools - Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office - Willingness to learn WordPress and other tools as needed Preferred (but not required): - Experience managing or growing a social media account - Experience in events, hospitality, retail, or community programming - Interest in local agriculture or food systems |
| Duties |
Key Responsibilities Market Operations Support - Assist with weekly market setup and takedown - Support vendor check-in and on-site coordination - Help ensure vendors comply with market policies - Assist in maintaining a safe, organized, and welcoming environment - Support problem-solving during market hours Social Media & Marketing - Lead regular social media posting and engagement (Instagram, Facebook, etc.) - Create engaging content including photos, short-form video, reels, and stories - Promote weekly vendors, special events, and community highlights - Monitor engagement and respond to messages and comments in a timely, professional manner - Assist with simple graphic design using Canva - Help maintain website updates (WordPress) as needed Administration & Communication - Assist with vendor communications as directed - Help maintain records and attendance tracking - Support promotional campaigns and seasonal marketing initiatives Community Engagement - Provide friendly, professional customer service - Represent the Market positively within the community - Support special events or themed market days Position Details - Seasonal contract: June 1 – September 12 - 12–16 hours per week (Thursday, Friday & Saturday) - Must be available Saturdays during market season - Primarily outdoor work - Compensation: $21.00 There is potential for this position to transition into a permanent part-time role (20–25 hours per week) for the right candidate. |
