Are you a student between the ages of 15 and 30 looking for a summer job? Creston Valley Food Action Coalition, which operates the Harvest Share Program, is applying for funding through the Canadian Summer Job Grant and if successful will be hiring a 30 - 32 hrs per week positions. Harvest Share Role June 15 – August 29, 2026 The Creston Valley Food Action Coalition is looking for a person who is passionate about food security issues and wants to make a difference in the Creston Valley. This person should love working with others and being outside. They must be organized, self-motivated, responsible, punctual and an effective communicator. They will ideally have some understanding of growing, harvesting and processing food. They will enjoy connecting with lots of difference people and will be able to manage various groups, setting schedules that will facilitate the needs of all. Above all they will want to have fun with others as they help to bring food security to people, reduce food waste and create community. Roles and Responsibilities 1. Connect with farmers and homeowners who have excess produce that needs harvesting 2. Organize picks with food producers and volunteers 3. Support the volunteer for picks 4. Maintain good records of picks 5. Support our food distribution plan 6. Distribute the picks evenly between the producers, volunteers and food distribution partners 7. Promote the Harvest Share program through the Farmers Market, social media and other channels 8. Work with CVFAC Executive Director, Farmers Market Manager and community partners to store/process and distribute value added goods produced from large harvests 9. Support the Harvest Share Manager and duties as assigned00 Farmers’ Market Role May 4 – August 29, 2026 In this role you will be required to manage everything from handling the basic operation of the market, online and offline promotion, developing the market and coordinating special activities and special projects as assigned. The employee works independently, must be a self-starter, and excellent communicator. The hours required to complete market and special project tasks will vary from 30– 32 hrs a week. In addition, you may be assigned to supporting the Harvest Share Program if required. The successful applicant will need use of their personal vehicle and a computer will be provided. Time requirements: Market day (7 to 8 hours depending on season) Attends additional meetings as required Special project work as required 30-32 hrs weekly 3 weeks – Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday, per month 1 week – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday, per month Qualifications of the employee 1. Excellent communication skills and relates well with others 2. Excellent organizational skills, responsible, and capable of carrying out a variety of duties at the same time 3. Strong leadership skills and the ability to guide and maintain the stability of the market 5. Good decision-maker, with the ability to make timely, balanced decisions and stand by them 7. Secure, mature individual who can accept feedback and adapts 8. Reliable and punctual 9. Money management skills 10. Competent with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and additional computer software as needed |
