REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: • Demonstrated success, developing, organizing and implementing a variety of recreation based programs and activities • Experience and understanding with outdoor recreation equipment including sport specific equipment, sailing dinghy, paddling vessels and powered watercraft considered an asset • Knowledge of Federal and Provincial boating regulations and requirements • Demonstrated ability to monitor and maintain budgets • Strong commitment to workplace and public health and safety and risk management. • Excellent customer service and public relations skills • Ability to navigate political and cultural sensitivities • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, problem solving, conflict resolution, and people management skills • Demonstrated ability to lead, instruct, coach and motivate staff • Demonstrated ability to meet various deadlines in a constantly changing service environment • High degree of resourcefulness, creativity, flexibility, and adaptability REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Diploma in Recreation Administration or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience • Aquatic certifications including National Lifeguard are required, additional Aquatic Leadership certifications would be considered an asset • Three years’ experience working in recreation • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity • Standard First Aid, CPR-level C, AED. • Training and experience in a computerized work environment with a high level of knowledge and experience in MS Office (Excel, Word and Outlook). • Experience with Recreation Software including registration, bookings and admin functions would be considered an asset. This is a full-time term position of 35 hours per week and offers a comprehensive benefits package including paid vacation time, and extended health and dental coverage. The normal hourly rate is $33.91 but ranges between $32.44 to $36.86 per hour, dependent on experience.
