Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy (CBAL) is the literacy and settlement organization in the Columbia Basin and Boundary. CBAL offers a wide range of literacy, settlement, and language services for people of all ages and we are excited to launch the East Kootenay Zonal Immigration Partnership (EKZIP) funded through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. The EKZIP Coordinator will facilitate the development of community-based partnerships and support the planning process to address the needs of newcomers in Cranbrook, Elk Valley, Golden and Windermere Valley. The successful candidate will engage various stakeholders in a locally-driven community planning process that will help to create welcoming and inclusive communities that support the settlement and integration outcomes of newcomers. Duties and Responsibilities: Oversight of the EKZIP project and regular consultation with the CBAL Executive Director Establish the EKZIP partnership council with diverse representation from community agencies, newcomer communities, faith-based organizations, Indigenous communities, education, government, and businesses Establish a newcomer advisory group to work in tandem with the EKZIP partnership council Coordinate and support collaboration and community planning initiatives at the community level Participate in relevant community meetings and program promotion activities Consult, guide and supervise the EKZIP council and newcomer advisory group in developing project deliverables Facilitate regular meetings of EKZIP council and newcomer advisory group to assist in the development of innovative action plans Create and distribute high-quality promotional material in accordance with branding guidelines Complete detailed reports for submission to the advisory groups, supervisor and funder Organize and participate in community events Coordinate and oversee consultants in developing the EKZIP website, community plan and research projects Explore potential streams of further funding and develop grant proposals based on strategic needs Skills and Qualifications: Self-motivated, adaptable and approachable individual with impeccable interpersonal skills University degree (preferred) with at least 5 years of experience working directly with newcomers Demonstrated experience with budgeting, report writing, research and analysis Strong understanding of immigrant experiences specific to this region Advanced understanding and direct experience in community development (preferably within the Kootenay region) Minimum of five years of managerial experience Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel and work in communities of Cranbrook, Elk Valley, Golden and Windermere Valley As this position is new, there may be additional responsibilities required in order to fulfill the role. The role will be 30 hours per week at the rate of $32.00 per hour (contract is for 46 weeks per year). Please submit your resume and cover letter to dprofili@cbal.org by noon on Thursday, April 24th.
