Requirements |
The Invasive Species Education + Outreach Assistant should have education or experience in Education or Natural Sciences (e.g., biology, ecology) and be confident with public speaking and engagement. Strong communication, organizational, and report-writing skills are essential. Knowledge of native/invasive species and experience in environmental education or youth programs are assets. A home office with a personal computer and phone is required (partial reimbursement available). A BC driver’s license and personal vehicle are necessary (mileage reimbursed). First Aid, weekend/evening. |
Duties |
Deliver educational messages on invasive species at venues like boat launches, parks, and events. Teach workshops on plant ID, removal, and best practices. Create and deliver activities for children and youth, and develop outreach materials (posters, articles, social media, videos). Perform computer tasks such as tracking sales/events, emails, and reporting. Follow EKISC policies, assist the Education and Outreach Coordinator, support fieldwork, and handle additional tasks as needed. Contribute to EKISC’s operations as a non-profit organization. |
