| Requirements |
Current Class 5 or Class 4 BC Driver's license Clean Driver's Abstract and experience driving on gravel roads Individuals must be physically fit and able to pass a light fitness test (2.25 km walk with 20 lbs. back pack in less than 22 minutes). Current OFA Level 1 & Transportation Endorsement First Aid Certifications S100 - Basic Wildland Fire Suppression certification S185 - Fire Entrapment Avoidance and Safety certification WHMIS - Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System certification S100, S185 and WHMIS training will be provided to those who need it. |
| Duties |
Individuals will be working as a Driver of a First Aid Vehicle at Forest Fire locations, or camps. Other duties may include some paperwork, operation of radios, assisting First Aid attendants with equipment, etc. Drivers on a First Aid Crew will not be required to perform firefighting duties. Work can be anywhere in BC as required, but our office is in Cranbrook. We are preparing for the 2024 summer firefighting season and need individuals in place once the need arises. Workers are on call, on an as needed, and when needed basis only. A 12 hour work day is typical, up to 14 day deployment |
