Requirements Job Summary
The Garden Center Supervisor, under the direction of the General Manager, will primarily be responsible to coordinate front of house activities and operations in the Garden Centre. This position will greet and assist customers in a manner that models exemplary conduct to other staff, including demonstrating add-on sales and explaining technical information to customers to enhance salesmanship. This role will also lead by example to build department commitment to high standards of service.

Job Duties
• Greet and assist customers in a manner that models exemplary conduct to other staff, including demonstrating add-on sales and describing technical information to customers to enhance salesmanship
• Lead by example to build department commitment to high standards of service
• Support store operational activities including product shipping and receiving, product flow, floor change-outs, product bar-coding, sales and markdowns, and store up-keep
• Accurately monitor and maintain inventories, the flow of merchandise, and orders
• Supervise the activities of sales staff, provide written daily, weekly and monthly schedule of required tasks
• Ensure that all sales employees comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards
• Ensure all customer complaints are addressed and handled professionally, leaving the customer with a positive resolution
• Conduct one-on-one or small group training presentations for sales associates on product knowledge, store activities, and established policies and procedures
• Assist with new employee training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed
• Maintain a calm demeanour during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep the store operating to our level of standards, and to set a positive example for your team
• Anticipate customer and store needs by constantly evaluating environment and customers for cues
• Provide feedback to general manager on employee performance, or other issues, concerns or improvements


Duties Job Requirements
• Degree or diploma in business or a related field preferred, or related experience
• One year of experience in a supervisory or managerial role preferred
• Experience leading and motivating retail teams and proven track record of exceptional customer service strongly preferred
• Ability to work well as a team player in a fast-paced, energetic environment
• Proven ability to plan, implement, and achieve goals
• Ability to present a professional image in appearance, words and actions
• Open availability and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and store openings and closings to meet the needs of the business
• Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all direct reports
• Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on mentoring and motivation of employees
Work Conditions
• Extended periods of standing, and other physically demanding conditions
• Lifting, moving, or manipulating objects up to 23 kilograms
• Flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Interaction with customers, employees, management, and the public at large
• Working in a busy environment with frequent interruptions
• Operation of desktop computer and peripherals
• High levels of stress and pressure
• Occasional overtime
