Requirements The Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy (CBAL) is an innovative, multi-service, non-profit organization providing a broad range of literacy-related programs and services for children, youth,
families, adults, seniors, and newcomers.
YPEP is a unique collaboration between CBAL and College of the Rockies (COTR). This program offers adult upgrading for Grade 12 completion or additional credits, life skills, a children’s
program, free licensed daycare and parenting programs to parents of young children. Program is offered at the COTR Campus.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the YPEP Coordinator is responsible for manage daily activities including scheduling, recruitment, planning and program delivery. Working with COTR
and daycare staff, the coordinator will help to build a welcoming and inclusive program for families.
The wage is $26.00 per hour with training hours in late August and regular hours to commence September 1st. This position is 25 hours per week from September 1 to May 30.
The program is closed for two weeks at Christmas, two weeks at spring break and summer.
Desired Qualifications
• Experience in supporting families and individuals with multi-barriers
• Relevant post-secondary education and experience in social work, education, or other
related field
• Experience working with communities and developing and nurturing partnerships
• Ability to navigate difficult conversations, problem solve and build relationships
• Education and/or experience in facilitating adult and family literacy/education programs
• Strong understanding of local resources and supports for families and individuals
• Ability to be innovative and seek opportunities to fulfill the needs of the participants
• Demonstrated management and administrative, written and oral communication skills
• Driver’s license, clean driving record and access to a vehicle

Duties Responsibilities
• Plan, develop and deliver appropriate activities, programs, and resources
• Plan and prepare daily lunches for participants
• Promote and model positive parenting, communication and problem solving skills
• Make local presentations related to the program and represent CBAL on relevant local committees
• Work with COTR and YPEP staff to build a community of learning and support for participants
• Build positive relationships with colleagues, community groups, local government, educational institutions, businesses and other non-profit groups
• Complete relevant reporting requirements as required by CBAL and funders
