JOB DUTIES AND TASKS:
Employees will be required to:
a) Provide personal care to both males and females.
b) Provide life skills training.
c) Adhere to confidentiality requirements.
d) Appropriate modeling through hygiene and grooming, body language, communications, interpersonal relationships and all actions.
e) Be flexible to change hours, days, or times to include needs of the client.
f) Transport and support clients, as necessary.
g) Work cooperatively with other staff.
h) Maintain a log of activities.
i) Direct service delivery activities may require a moderate level of physical fitness depending on the areas of vocational training provided.
j) The position will have to cope with teaching on both a one to one basis and a group basis often dealing with clients who may have behavioral issues, high needs and communication barriers.
k) Work may not necessarily occur with normal office hours. Evening and weekend work may be required.
l) Must have own vehicle with the ability to provide maintenance and insurance documentation if requested.
m) Administer medication, as requested, to client in accordance with established policy.
This position provides meaningful, personalized support for individuals in their home and community. Candidates with different areas of expertise will work with individuals who need support from that specific background to ensure they are receiving the best possible care. Experience in Community Living Support relevant post-secondary education and/or experience in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities is an asset.
STAFF WILL HAVE DOCUMENTTION OF:
a) A Certificate in Human Services, a specified vocational field or a related field for the equivalent combination of education and experience is typically required for this position.
b) The ability to have confidence and comfort in working alone with individuals.
c) Must have and maintain a valid CPR and First Aid Certification.
d) Valid Class 5 Drivers License.
e) Food Safe Certificate.
f) Completed Current Criminal Record Search.
g) Current TB testing.
h) One to three years previous experience in a similar environment is preferred. Previous direct program.
